Hi! I'm Dr Emily

Growing up my parents were not scientists or engineers. They always fostered a love of learning at home and raised me to believe in my capabilities. This led me to pursue what I was passionate about and I became the first engineer in our family.

Now, as a busy mother of 4, I know that parenting can be so hectic and busy that it's hard to know if you're doing it right. Then you add in something that seems really technical like STEM and it can just feel so overwhelming. But what I learnt growing up is that you don't need to be an engineer or scientist to raise one.

STEM starts with curiosity, not credentials. It's in the questions you ask, the stories you read, the moments you pause to explore with your child.

I'm raising my own kids to feel confident in STEM so that they can keep the door ajar if they want to pursue it in their future. These are the milestones that I use to check how each of my children are progressing. You can use them too as they will help you to raise a curious innovator, thinker and problem solver.

You are more than enough to support their curiosity.
